This is a major contribution to Pre-Columbian studies...a tight theme handled in excellent scholarly detail. The monograph presents much material that is new and certainly looks at it in a new way. The West Mexican-Ecuador/Peru contacts are of high importance in New World culture history. This pins them down beyond all doubt.
-- Gordon Willey, Professor Emeritus, Harvard University and Ethnohistory
A concise and informative study of a culturally significant class of Pre-Columbian artifacts...Not satisfied simply to carry out technical analyses and museum artifacts, the authors go further to combine their archaeometric [sic] data with inferences from archaeology and ethnohistory to investigate the social and economic significance of the bronze artifacts.
